Prescribed Burn Workshop: Prescribed Burn Demonstration Field Day
Registration period: January 11 – February 14
Date: Saturday, February 15, 2025, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

  • The online “Official Missouri Prescribed Burn Course” must be completed before attending this
    event. You can register for the online portion here.
  • The online course has a $25 charge to a third-party host (not MDC) and can be completed in
    approximately 2 – 4 hours. Please bring your certificate of completion and mileage sheet to the
    Demonstration Field Day.
  • We will be conducting a prescribed burn so please dress accordingly with leather boots, leather
    gloves, cotton pants, cotton long sleeve shirt and safety glasses. Participants will learn about
    burn equipment, burn line installation, safe weather parameters, ignition operations and other
    techniques to safely conduct a prescribed burn.
  • If inclement weather, workshop will be held indoors at the same site.

Nature Art: Pine Needlers (VIRTUAL)
Registration period: January 31 – February 27
Date: Thursday, February 27, 2025, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

  • Learn embroidery techniques while also exploring “Wildflowers” by stitching quilt blocks based on that theme.

Nature Art: Pine Needlers
Registration period: January 31 – February 27
Date: Thursday, February 27, 2025, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

  • This class is a 12-month program (June 2024 – May 2025) that meets each month. You will learn
    simple, but beautiful embroidery techniques as we explore some of the most stunning and
    unique wildflowers native to Missouri.
  • By signing up, you are committing to attend all twelve of the monthly sessions so that you will
    be able to complete all 15 blocks for an entire quilt.

Historic and Primitive Skills: Primitive Arrow Making
Registration period: October 4 – February 26
Date: Saturday, March 1, 2025, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

  • Learn to make your own primitive arrow using only hand tools. We will use Native Americans
    techniques with materials native to Missouri such as river cane, turkey feathers, deer sinew,
    pine pitch and more. Each participant will have the opportunity to make one arrow.
  • Please bring leather gloves and a pocketknife. It would also be helpful to wear blue jeans for the heat
    straightening process.
  • Materials will be provided but participants may bring preferred personal resources.
