Daviess County Court House

This courthouse was constructed in 1908 and is home to one of the few remaining, original hand-wound Seth Thomas clocks of its kind still in operation in the United States. There is one in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. that has been mechanized.

All four clock faces operate on the original weight and cable system, remaining fully functional. Gallatin’s courthouse clock is still hand wound every seven days.
