Narwhal’s Crafted Urban Ice

See Photo Location

At Narwhal’s Crafted Urban Ice, co-owners Brandon Holzhueter and Brad Merten offer much more than the standard frozen Daiquiri. The cool new concept borders St. Louis’ Central West End and Midtown neighborhoods and features frozen boozy drinks made with fresh ingredients and from-scratch infusions and purées.

Inspired by its playful narwhal logo, the interior features a nautical theme: Splashes of aquamarine on the walls mingle with weathered, repurposed wooden planks; decorative ropes; and a sleek black bar top illuminated from overhead with modern lighting. The space is designed for quick service for its 50 indoor seats and the 45 or so on its spacious patio.

The menu features 14 different flavors in varying shades and sizes such as the Flying Grasshopper with vodka, crème de menthe, crème de cacao, housemade mint-chocolate chip ice cream, dark-chocolate shavings and a sprig of mint. Other selections include frozen Mojitos and Negronis as well as a bourbon slush with Kentucky bourbon, strong-brewed black tea, orange, lemon and burnt brown-sugar simple syrup. Try the carefully crafted cocktails in sizes that range from flights (three 7-ounce tastes) up to a frosty 40-ounce fishbowl for sharing – a whale of a good time no matter what you choose.
