Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site

The Victorian stone house was the home of artist Thomas Hart Benton from 1939 until his death in 1975. Benton converted the carriage house into his art studio.

The main house and the studio contain many of his belongings and works of art. A blank canvas, paintbrushes and paints remain in the studio just as Benton left them. Paid, guided tours are offered of both buildings. There are no self-guided tours of these buildings. Access to the site grounds is free.

Groups of 15 or more should call at least two weeks in advance to schedule a tour. Smaller groups have the option to either arrange their tour on-site upon arrival or reserve their tour online in advance.
