This park, rich in Civil War lore, comprises the rugged Pike Run Hills surrounding Coonville Creek and the Big River. It features a campground, picnic sites and shelters, and three different trails. The 10.7-mile Pike Run Trail is open for hiking, backpacking and horseback riding; the other two trails are open for hiking only.

Two access points on the Big River serve as convenient canoe launch points. Motorized boats are not recommended.
