The St. Clair Historical Museum is located in in Franklin County (560 S. Main St., Saint Clair, MO 63077). We cover St. Clair, Anaconda, Moselle, Robertsville, Virginia Mines and Stanton. The museum occupies an old firehouse, with one bay recreating St. Clair Main Street about 1917, and the other shows the domestic life of the time. There is a 100-year local mining display of lead, iron, barite and copper. Our old schoolroom features Phoebe Apperson Hearst, founder of the PTA and local teacher, later mother of William Randolph Hearst. We are 100 percent volunteer run and supported.
The museum is open most Saturday from noon until 4 p.m., year-round (except for holidays). From Memorial Day to Labor Day we are closed the last Saturday of the month, but open on the last Sunday, with the same hours. We are also open by appointment other times by calling 636-667-0231 or 636-667-4162; or by emailing stclairmomuseum@gmail.com.
