Model trains of various gauges and eras run in the Welcome Center. The Main Train Hall has multiple train layouts and special displays that show the history of model railroading. Exhibits include G-, O-, HO-, HOn3-, N- and TY-Scale layouts. Dynamic displays include video of operating trains, as lights, sound and animation all enhance the visitor’s experience.
The Children’s Train Experience includes books, videos, a wooden play table and an art station. It offers hands-on fun for younger railroad enthusiasts, and a comfortable seating area.
The Research Library has 20,000 volumes, including books, magazines and videos, and vintage “how-to” instruction books. Topics range from model railroading and railroad history to personal histories and maps. There’s even an active train-watchers status board.
The Museum offers surplus model railroad materials in many scales at steeply discounted prices.
Join us for year-round family entertainment. There is a modest admission cost. Veterans and dependents are always free.
