Set in the old Railroad Hotel, the Gasconade County Historical Society Museum offers a fun look back in time at the County’s early residents. The display rooms tell the story of people coming to this area to start a new life. They depict their homes and farms, clothing and tools, churches and schools. The museum shares stories of people who were involved in six wars, founded businesses, civic and social organizations, and left us with a wonderful heritage of music, art and literature.
The museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from mid-March to mid-December, and admission is free.
Our 2026 special exhibit, titled “Working Hands, Lasting Legacy,” features the unique handiwork of county residents. Embroidery, hooked rugs, needlepoint, birdhouses, crocheted and tatted works, whirligigs, wood carving, children’s furniture, handmade dolls and toys, and many other amazing examples of the “soul’s expression” are on display.
