Chateau Charmant

See Photo Location

This castle was modeled after a 14th century French chateau; it was built almost entirely by three people. Chateau Charmant is French for Charming Castle. Each room is painted to reflect a different castle from Europe. The castle has six main rooms, with two bedroom suites for overnight guests. The beams in the great hall are 42 feet high and all hand made by Amish craftsmen. There are clouds painted on the ceilings. The tour of the castle lasts about one hour; admission is $7.50 for adults; $5 for students; and $3.50 for toddlers. You must call in advance to arrange a tour. Be sure to ask about the Kindall Grocery Store, which is about one mile away.Chateau Charmant is available for private parties and weddings; the castle sits on a 149-acre property in the Ozark Hills.
