Bluff City Theater is a small professional theater located in the former Farmers and Merchants Bank building at 212 Broadway in Historic Downtown Hannibal. Built in 1910, the F&M building is an iconic neo-classical structure featuring four Missouri limestone Corinthian columns supporting a portico. Operated by the bank until 1970, it was reportedly robbed by Dillinger's gang in the 1930s.
The site stood vacant until it was restored in 2014 to create an intimate 100-seat performance space. Bluff City Theater is an SPT Equity theater dedicated to producing theatrical works rooted in literature- from books, about authors or characters from books. The theater operates year-round as a performance venue. When not hosting its own productions, the theater plays host to a variety of musical, theatrical and community events.
