The Thompson Campground was named in honor of Lionel Thompson, former Mayor of Moberly. He was an avid camper, and enjoyed the natural beauty and quiet surroundings of Rothwell Park. The Thompson Campground offers 24 full hook-up RV spaces. Each space has a concrete pad, electricity, water and sewer connections. There is a seasonal restroom on-site.
In addition to the RV park, there is primitive area designated for tent camping. The setting is perfect, being surrounded by woods, but having close access to lake fishing, boating, a two-mile walking trail, the Miniature Railroad, 18-hole disc golf course, aquatic center, archery range, and a multitude of picnic shelters (all of which are found inside the park).
