From Sept. 9-14, Excelsior Springs will welcome the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall to Piburn Ballfield off Broadway Avenue at Penn Street in the historic downtown for a community tribute to Vietnam veterans, their families, and those whose names are etched on the Wall. Stop by the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives at 101 East Broadway for more information and to tour the locally created companion displays, “Not Forgotten.” The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is an approximate 3/5-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Standing six feet tall at its center and stretching nearly 300 feet from end to end, the Wall offers a place of reflection and healing. The companion exhibit, “Not Forgotten,” extends the impact of the Traveling Wall beyond its September visit. The “Not Forgotten” displays will remain at the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives through November 2027, preserving the stories and memories gathered from the Vietnam War era.
