📆 May 22 – Aug. 2
This summer, The Montminy Gallery proudly presents Echoes of Missouri: The African American Journey through Art, History, Music, and Culture — a powerful, multi-disciplinary exhibition running from May 22 through Aug. 2, 2025. This collaborative showcase features local talent and Kansas City area artists coming together to honor and celebrate Missouri’s African American legacy through visual art, music, poetry and history.
With a focus on cultural expression and historical depth, the exhibition illuminates the enduring impact of Black artists, musicians, poets and change-makers. Through thought-provoking artwork, historical artifacts and immersive storytelling, visitors will be invited to explore the powerful intersections of race, identity and music that have shaped Missouri’s cultural fabric.
As a cornerstone of the exhibition, Echoes of Missouri will feature a vibrant lineup of public programming, including:
• Live musical and spoken word performances
• A community panel discussion with artists and scholars
• A family celebration day with hands-on activities and live entertainment
