Visitors to Historic Downtown West Plains will want to view the mural created by Artist Michael McClure. The mural represents a series of 12 images depicting successive time periods from the pristine state to the arrival of American Indians, the first settlers through the Civil War, and into the 20th century.

Country music legend Porter Wagoner and baseball star Preacher Roe are depicted in the mural as well as the 1928 West Plains Explosion and other important events in the history of West Plains.
