Ozarks Heritage Research Center

See Photo Location

Located in the Garnett Library on the campus of Missouri State University–West Plains, the Ozarks Heritage Research Center (OHRC) is dedicated to preserving and sharing the work of Ozarks scholars and authors along with other artifacts.

The center’s collections serve researchers, students and anyone interested in the history and culture of the southern Missouri Ozarks. Through ongoing efforts, OHRC gathers and makes available documents, photographs and other materials that help tell the story of the region’s people, places and traditions — including resources not found anywhere else.

Visitors will also find a large mural depicting a historic Ozark scene: a wagon crossing a river, offering a visual glimpse into the region’s past.
