Middle of Nowhere Ranch Hiking Trails

See Photo Location

Middle of Nowhere Ranch offers great terrain for the hiker or just someone who needs to get away for a leisurely stroll with nature. With more than 500 contiguous acres, featuring heavy woods and rolling pastures, our trails can take you along a stream’s bank or up and down groomed trails through some heavy timber.

Cleared, groomed & stop-over areas are available throughout the complex for that relaxing picnic lunch or just to sit and watch our abundant bird and other wildlife.

Water hydrants are located at various points on the land and we position water stations at marked locations. Access to our hiking trails is free to our overnight guests. Day-hikers who wish to utilize our facility must pay a fee and register at the office during normal business hours Our 500-acre resort features some of Northern Missouri’s finest rolling hills and heavy wooded areas. Our name says it all! We are very secluded! Our resort is accessed from a dead-end “double-lettered highway or a graveled road. We followed old logging roads through our woods and widened them to make trails varied and enjoyable.

Our lodges and full-hook up RV sites are co-located and limited camping is permitted within the RV sites/lodge area so groups traveling together who need varied overnight accommodations may still be co-located! For our campers, a common-use shower house offers a washer/dryer, kitchen sink, gas grill (BBQ) and a microwave. For our horse lovers, a wash rack with unlimited hot water will be available on the west side of the bathhouse for our favorite 4-leggers! The majority of the RV sites have wither 30 or 50 amp plugs as well as 110 outlets. A couple RV sites only offer 30 amp and 110 service. All have water service and an additional outlet for a personal hose. Primitive camping is allowed throughout the area. Free firewood is provided at all sites. We have a limited amount of fire rings provided at no extra charge.  Middle of Nowhere Ranch is also the home of the Green Hills Equestrian. Events and training occur throughout the year. A limited amount of covered stalls are available for a daily fee. Temporary pens are also available for a fee and advanced coordination is requested. We have cross country course up to training level and our indoor arena is 8 x 168 and lighted.  Overnight guests may also enjoy our numerous stocked ponds for fishing and depending upon the time of the year, other activities such as mushroom hunting, nut gathering, and wild berry picking. Hunting is also offered during certain times of the year. Rates vary depending upon the season selected.

Our lodges are fully equipped to include linens, pots and pans, washer/dryer, satellite TV, WIFI and have central heat and AC. Our smallest lodge is two bedrooms with two twin beds each, a large living room with two sofa sleepers and an adjacent kitchen with full-size appliances. Other lodges are up to 1,800 square feet and accommodate up to 14 people in beds or sofa sleepers.

Our facility is located in north-central Missouri, off Route 139 and E, approximately 50 miles west of Kirksville.
