Martha LaFite Thompson Nature Sanctuary
The Nature Sanctuary is a multi-acre retreat with an Interpretive Center, natural habitat, and miles of nature trails. A wide range of children's and family programs are held throughout the season. Trails open year-round; summer hours 8 a.m.-8 p.m., winter 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Naure Center open Tue.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m. General Info Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is a private nonprofit nature organization with a 100-acre wildlife sanctuary. About foiur miles of trails traverse diverse habitats, including, wheel chair accessible paved trail and a trail-side bird blind in the prairie. The Nature Sanctuary offers educational programs and events. The Nature Center with classrooms, a gift shop, library, indoor bird viewing area, and exhibits (including some live animals) is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Wildlife Sanctuary Trails are open daily, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. April-September and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. October-March.
