Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site

Located off Route 107 in Mark Twain State Park, this museum contains the two-room cabin in which Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was born in 1835. Many of Twain’s personal items and books are displayed, including an early manuscript of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”

Picnic sites, a short hiking trail and an overlook of Mark Twain Lake are available near the museum. Admission to the site is free.
