Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site

This is the burial site of educator William Jewell and his nephew, Charles Henry Hardin, who served as Missouri’s 22nd governor from 1875-1877. The site’s unlettered headstones are believed to mark the graves of people who were enslaved by these families.

This unstaffed facility is managed by Rock Bridge Memorial State Park.
