Our mission is to make the St. Louis region a more vibrant place to live, work and play by developing your regional network of greenways. We are a public agency, created by a vote of the people in the year 2000 to create a sales tax dedicated to your parks and greenways. Those funds allow us to collaborate with partners and communities across St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County to design, plan, build, promote and help to maintain your regional network of greenways.
We meet people where they are and build civic trust, involving the public in every project – throughout the project. We know community members are the experts on their neighborhoods, and their investment and ownership are crucial to long-term success. As a steward of taxpayers’ dollars, Great Rivers Greenway embraces the diversity of our region (serving around 1,100 square miles), proactively creating inclusive, accessible public spaces and processes with and for all.
