Boots Court Motel & Carthage Visitor Center

The Boots Court Motel & Carthage Visitor Center is much more than a place for travelers to collect brochures. It is often the first impression visitors have of both Carthage and the state of Missouri. Located along Historic Route 66 in the restored 1957 Sinclair station adjacent to Boots Court Motel, the Carthage Visitor Center serves as a welcoming hub where history, hospitality, and community come together. The center has also been designated as the official visitor center for the City of Carthage, further strengthening its role in promoting local tourism.

Our mission is to connect travelers with everything Carthage and southwest Missouri have to offer. Every day we welcome guests from across the United States and around the world, providing personalized recommendations for local restaurants, museums, shops, lodging, historic sites, outdoor recreation, festivals and attractions. By encouraging visitors to explore beyond Route 66, we help increase overnight stays and generate economic impact for local businesses throughout the region.

The Carthage Visitor Center also serves as a showcase for Missouri artisans and entrepreneurs. Visitors can purchase locally made artwork, handcrafted goods, books by Missouri authors, Route 66 memorabilia, and products that reflect the unique culture and creativity of our community. These partnerships help support small businesses while giving travelers an authentic piece of Missouri to take home.

As a tourism resource, we assist individual travelers, motorcoach groups, international visitors, car clubs, motorcycle groups, and Route 66 enthusiasts by providing maps, itineraries, travel guidance and information about destinations throughout Missouri. We also host community events, educational programs and group tours that celebrate our state’s rich history and encourage visitors to return.

As Missouri prepares for the Route 66 Centennial and 250 years for America, the Carthage Visitor Center is uniquely positioned to welcome a new generation of travelers. We are committed to preserving Missouri’s legacy while promoting the people, businesses and experiences that make our state an unforgettable destination. Every visitor who walks through our doors leaves with more than information; they leave with a genuine Missouri welcome.
