You’re invited to the Vineyard Mansion! This Romanesque Revival-style house was built in 1890, by the famed architectural firm of Eckel and Mann, for B.R. Vineyard, who was a prominent attorney in St. Joseph, MO. Although the house was divided into apartments in the 1940s, it has been meticulously restored back to it’s original use and we are now ready to open our doors to guests who want to experience the splendor of the Gilded Age.
The Vineyard Mansion property is located within the Museum Hill Historic District, an area well-known for its stunning, Victorian-era homes. A stroll through the neighborhood will provide the observer with beautiful examples of Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, American Foursquare, and Bungalow/Craftsman style architecture. As well as being conveniently situated across the street from the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion, which serves as a museum for the City of St. Joseph, the Vineyard Mansion is also close to the historic city center, art, culture and parks. You’ll love staying at the Vineyard Mansion because of the historic neighborhood and the stately rooms filled with comfy beds and beautiful antiques.
