This park features two campgrounds, an equestrian campground and a special-use camping area. There are basic and electric sites, showers, firewood, laundry and a dump station.

The park, named for a former Missouri governor, dates to the 1920s. It encompasses 5,323 acres of the St. Francois Mountains. It features trails, canoeing, a nature center, a store and grill, and picnicking in a scenic setting.
