Fred Conway, Ste. Genevieve Art Colony Instructor 25th Anniversary Promenade des Arts, presented over four weeks from mid-July through mid-August. The exhibit explores the art and life of acclaimed artiest and instructor Frederick E. Conway (1900-1973). A master of watercolor, oil and encaustic painting, Conaway defied categorization. Equally adept at classical portraiture, vibrant abstraction and impressionistic landscapes, his remarkable versatility is reflected in the exhibition of 48 original museum-quality works. Each artwork will be accompanied by interpretive panels highlighting aspects of Conway’s artistic legacy. More than two dozen archival photographs will provide historical context, and a commemorative exhibit brochure will feature key highlights of the collection.
Exhibit hours are 11:00am to 3:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, July 18 through Aug. 9, following the opening reception at 6:00 p.m. on July 17. Free and open to the public
