Margaret Harwell Art Museum

The Margaret Harwell Art Museum is proud to host exhibits featuring artists from within Missouri and around the world, in addition to housing an impressive permanent collection. Located in the Moore-Dalton House, a Classical Revival home on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum boasts beautiful architecture and woodwork, as well as an original Dalton adding machine (invented by James Dalton, for whom the house is named,) Mason-Hamlin grand piano and a working antique Regina music box. A sculpture garden courtesy of the friends of the museum wraps around the home, featuring beautiful sculptures and plantings. The Margaret Harwell Art Museum was named for Mrs. Margaret Harwell, a local entrepreneur, community leader and artist, who bequeathed a portion of her estate to the City of Poplar Bluff for the purpose of providing access to the fine arts. One of only a handful of public art museums in the state, the Margaret Harwell Art Museum offers free admission, promoting the visual arts throughout the region to residents and visitors alike.
