Located in the heart of Ste. Genevieve, this site features two historic houses: the 1818 Federal-style Felix Vallé House and the 1819 Shaw House.
The Vallé House, a former mercantile and residence, is furnished in the style of the 1830s and contains artifacts documenting the American influence on Ste. Genevieve. Guided tours of the building are available for a fee. Access to the backyard and its period gardens is free.
The Shaw House served as a store house for a separate mercantile business before being converted into a residence and doctor’s office for Dr. Benjamin Shaw. It now contains the historic site office, a gift shop and a series of rotating exhibits. Admission to the Shaw House is free.
See the official website for more information about guided tours of the Vallé House.
