Award-winning Nigerian artist Dr. Bolaji Ogunwo has completed six commissioned murals and other art installations in West Plains. The most recent is music themed and wraps around a corner on the back of a building located on 14 Court Square, accessible via Luster Arcade in the Downtown West Plains Historic District.
- Others include one at the West Plains Public Library – 750 W. Broadway – painted and unveiled during the celebration of the Total Solar Eclipse on April 4, 2024.
- He has works at the renovated Lincoln School – 1400 E. Pony Thomas St.
- “Release the Peace,” finished in June 2023, is his second-largest work. His largest work, “The Protector,” was unveiled in late 2022. Both are located on the north wall of 14 Court Square in Luster Arcade.
- The first mural Dr. Ogunwo completed in West Plains is inside The Christos House resale shop and office, located at 125 Jefferson St. Titled “Helping Hands,” it was painted during a Domestic Violence Awareness event in 2021.
The community of West Plains counts itself honored and fortunate to have these works by Dr. Ogunwo bringing their messages of hope, love and encouragement to our town.
