The Trailside Inn is located in a quaint old duplex, built in the 1860s, on a street that was once a leg of the Santa Fe Trail through western Missouri. It is in a National Historic District that includes many pre-Civil War homes and many others from the Victorian era and beyond.
We offer four guest rooms, each with its own unique combination of accommodations and atmosphere, decorated with antiques and quilts.
- The Homestead Room, on the second floor, has a 1930s queen-size wood bed, two cozy wing chairs and a small table with two dining chairs and its own small private bath with original claw foot tub and overhead shower extension. An adjoining room is available for additional family members if needed.
- The Cottage Room, also on the second floor, contains a king bed, a rocking chair and an upholstered wing chair, as well as a small farmhouse table with two dining chairs. It also features a private bathroom with a shower rather than a tub.
- The Prairie Room is located on the main level and has its own private entrance through a small screened sitting porch. The room contains a pair of wooden twin beds and two upholstered chairs as well as a small farmhouse table and chairs. The small private bath has a standard tub with overhead shower.
- The Pioneer Family Suite is on the first floor with its own screened outside entry. The suite contains two full-size antique iron beds, a twin-size iron bed, dressers and an upholstered settee which can provide sleeping space for a child, and a rocking chair. There is a dining table in the room that seats six as well as a full size refrigerator. Connected to the main room is a small full bath with standard tub and shower. A crib and high chair are available in an adjoining closet.
Each room has access to a small refrigerator stocked with an assortment of juices and soft drinks, with space available for small personal items.
A hot breakfast is served in the Gathering Place.
