The 1891 Calaboose (jail) is the oldest existing structure owned by the City of Springfield.

Restored in 1999, it is used as a police substation, with a police museum on the first and second floor. Tours of the building and the police museum are offered on weekdays by appointment only; minimum of two days notice required. The museum is also open for First Friday Art Walk on the first Friday of each month from April through October
