Historic Upper Meramec riverfront family campground offering kayak, canoe, and raft float trips, RV and tent camping, rustic motel and cabins, and group packages. A new unique alternative is staying in a painted tipi.
For decades Indian Springs has been a gathering place for families to create memories near the clear gentle waters and reliable flow of the spring-fed Upper Meramec River in a picturesque niche of the Ozark foothills. Located 1.5 hours from St. Louis and two hours from Springfield, Missouri, Indian Springs is close enough to I-44 for convenience, yet takes you "away enough" to experience the beautiful sounds of nature by the river.
Floating and lodging are discounted on weekdays. The motel and cabins accommodate 2-13 guests, with access to outdoor grills, fire rings, and picnic tables. Newly renovated, the rock annex to the original lodge, Little Wolf, is now available with a kitchenette. The caretaker's house, Standing Bear, has a full kitchen and is available for 11 guests. Additional cabins have mini refrigerators. All cabins have screened porches. All lodging has A/C, includes bedding and towels, and is within walking distance of the river. The campground and shower house are by the river, with tent and RV sites having the option of water and electricity. Float trips transport guests six and a half miles upstream, and float back to Indian Springs campground. Many enjoy time in the river's shallow water near the campground.
Young guests also enjoy exploring the creek that runs through the campground. A camp store is in the center, convenient for campground and lodging guests. Meal packages can be arranged by prior reservation for groups in the dining hall. All guests have access to the Saturday night fish fry on the deck, Sunday morning pancake breakfast in the dining hall, playground, spring, volleyball, horseshoes, tetherball and swimming pool. Indian Springs is ideal for retreats and family reunions, with the ability to choose different camping or lodging options, yet still be close for gathering as a group. Our goal is to give guests a memorable outdoor adventure in a family-friendly environment that they will want to repeat for generations.
