Perryville will be prime location for viewing the Aug. 21, 2017, total solar eclipse, with activities and special events planned leading up to the big day. The city will experience two minutes and 40 seconds of totality during the eclipse.
Perryville Solarfest begins on Friday, Aug. 18, on the square in downtown Perryville, with food vendors, a carnival, concerts, a parade, and festival vendors. On Saturday, Aug. 19, the city will host a mobile planetarium and a Solar Chalk Festival.
On Sunday, Aug. 20, explore Perry County by visiting museums, cultural sites, natural areas, and wineries, and join the fun in the Perryville City Park for Mudfest, a muddy obstacle course. Sunday also brings Solarfest at the Grove, a fun-filled family picnic at the Seminary Picnic grounds. When the sun goes down, end Super Solar Sunday a the SolarGlow 5K Run and Walk, with music and stargazing.
For the main event on Monday, you can view the eclipse at one of many sites, including Perryville Regional Airport, Perryville City Park, Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex and Seminary Picnic Grounds.
