Heroines on the Homefront: World War I and the Missouri Council of Defense’s Woman’s Committee Historian and author Petra DeWitt launches the Missouri State Museum’s commemoration of the 100th anniversary of U.S. involvement in World War I.
DeWitt will explore the role of the Woman’s Committee in tackling critical issues of women, children and food supplies as Missouri mobilized for war. Attendees will also get a sneak peak of the museum’s “Here at Home: Missouri and the Great War” exhibit that opens on April 6.
The program will be held in the Missouri State Museum's History Hall, located in the east wing of the Missouri State Capitol. The program continues the museum's ongoing series, "Museum After Hours," held the first Wednesday of each month. In addition to the program, the museum's galleries will be open until 9 p.m.
