Experience Missouri’s great outdoors from a different angle. Whether you’re soaring above our towering trees, flying between them or hiding behind them, Missouri is the perfect place to try your hand at a new outdoor adventure.

Water is more than just a substance of life in Missouri. From doing cannonballs off of a pontoon into a lake to floating down the Current River, you can enjoy the water in a variety of ways. For something out of the ordinary, at Sea Life Kansas City Aquarium in Kansas City, you can peer through the glass at aquatic life with more than 5,000 sea creatures. Get close – but not too close – to a blacktip reef shark and watch a graceful cownose stingray glide through the water. Don’t worry; the next time you jump into one of Missouri’s beautiful lakes or streams, we have zero recordings of shark attacks.

Prove to your friends you have the endurance and strength to climb 55-foot high walls.
In St. Louis, the indoor rock climbing facility at Climb So iLL challenges your hand-eye coordination, upper body strength and fear of heights. The facility includes 40 top ropes stations for recreational and professional athletes. Advanced climbers can skip the training area and instructional classes and move right to the walls. Before you pull your way to the top of one of the 55-foot walls, read a first-hand experience of Climb So iLL on this VisitMO Spotlight Blog post

The Edge Challenge Course at Windermere in Roach (Missouri has several towns with strange names; but that's a different subject), offers climbers and thrill-seekers another chance to prove their skills and team building spirit. Located 10 miles west of Camdenton, this outdoor ropes course features several obstacles that challenge bravery. Let the wind whip your hair as you fly down four zip-lines, one of which is 343 feet long. Feel your adrenaline rushing as you walk the sky walk. If you have what it takes, try the 48-foot giant swing and the inverted rock wall.

Before you travel to Kingdom City to do combat at
Battlecreek Paintball with your best friends, have a plan of attack in mind. Three of the four paintball fields are outdoors, so you’ll need to plan for nature’s changing weather. Hide behind the trees in the wooded fields of Battle Creek and The Highlands. Blend in with the natural backdrop in your best camouflage attire and surprise your opponent.

Blodgett Paintball has four battlefields offering fun, competitive paintball play in Blodgett, 11 miles north of Sikeston. The facility only uses inflatable and man-made obstacles to hide behind. If you’re not up for the action, watch from the sidelines.

Get off of your feet and zip through the air. Light Speed Ziplines at Cave Spring Park sends you flying 60 feet high, for a bird’s-eye view of the forest floor. Explore the tree-top canopy as you’ve never seen it before. At this Van Buren adventure, add to your fun with gem panning, cave tours and other outdoor activities.

Soar the Ozark Mountains, between and over the trees, above the fauna at Branson Zipline Canopy Tours at Wolfe Creek Preserve. Guided excursions range from one-and-a-half hours to three hours, day and night, across numerous ziplines, platforms, and sky bridges at this Branson attraction. Each station is themed to reflect Wolfe’s Legend. Thrill seekers take the Blue Streak Fast Line and Freefall Xpress, zipping them to a tower rising 100 feet above the ground, before a safe free-fall dismount.
