Raise a Glass to Missouri’s Best Bars and Pubs

Many of the greatest pleasures in life are also the simplest. That’s certainly true of meeting friends to enjoy a cold beer or a glass of delicious wine. Fun, welcoming bars and pubs dot the Missouri landscape, offering something for every thirsty visitor. Read about some of Missouri’s best bars to enjoy a nice Midwest Brew.

Best Bars for Beer and More Beer

In Springfield, beer aficionados flock to Patton Alley Pub, one of the best bars in town, known for its extensive list of tasty microbrews with fabulous names like Moose Drool and Magic Hat #9. If you’re in Springfield on a Sunday evening, stop by Patton Alley to play trivia and keep your energy up by snacking on fried jalapenos and beer-cheese fondue.

Pay further tribute to barley and hops at the International Tap House in Chesterfield. This beautiful pub features 40 beers on tap, including local Midwest brew and beers from around the world – the selection changes regularly. Want to go ’round the world, beer-style? Sign up for an iTap Passport and receive rewards (such as T-shirts and even an engraved nameplate) when you drink beers that hail from a variety of countries.

True to its name, the Public House Brewing Company handcrafts its beers on-site. This Rolla brewpub, one of the best bars in the area, is a dream come true for the two longtime friends who own it. They serve stout, American pale ale and Kolsch in addition to a variety of seasonal beers. Public House hosts live music every weekend; plus they have  barbecue sandwiches on Saturdays. It all makes this a cool bar to hang out and enjoy a pint.

In Kirksville, the DuKum Inn is a must-visit tavern. Since 1938, this cozy spot has welcomed regulars and newcomers alike. Grab a chair at the bar; work up a thirst playing pool, darts and air-hockey. The list of 20+ draft-beer boasts such favorites as Bass, Blue Moon and the venerable Midwest brew from Kansas City, Boulevard Wheat. The tempting menu includes fry-bread tacos, toasted ravioli and (they say) "the second best cheeseburger in town."
