Seven Springs is a perfect winery to visit during a Lake of the Ozarks getaway. To help you safely enjoy your visit, the winery runs a shuttle to and from lake-area locations (for a small fee).
Rather pack your own picnic? You can do just that; then take it to the Les Bourgeois Winery A-Frame, situated atop towering Missouri River bluffs, 15 minutes west of Columbia. From the picnic tables scattered around the terraced landscape, you'll be dazzled by the views at this popular Rocheport winery – a favorite among college students and wedding parties. No picnic? No problem. The A-Frame offers a selection of snacks, plus meat and cheese trays. (Weekends, March and November; daily other months.)
Fans of fruit wines are enchanted by OOVVDA Winery, where the wines are crafted by third- and fourth-generation winemakers. At this winery, five minutes north of Springfield, savor wines made from red and black raspberries, cherries, blueberries, blackberries and red plums, in addition to grape varietals such as Norton and Vignoles.

Live tunes pair well with the wine at Fahrmeier Family Vineyards, 15 minutes southwest of Lexington. In addition to great vino and lively music, there is plenty of scenery to admire: Fahrmeier's tasting room occupies a 1930s barn overlooking the family farm.
Cave Vineyard Winery, 25 minutes southwest of Ste. Genevieve is unique in two ways. It site atop a natural cave which serves as a picnic area, with seating for 100; and they sell family-recipe biscotti, which is made on-site. Yes, there is outside seating in good weather.
The outdoor fire pit at Fence Stile Vineyards & Winery is a great gathering place any time of year. Pack a picnic or call ahead and they will make one for you. Kids and pets are welcome, so take a kite, a bottle of bubbles, a plastic throwing disk and make a day of it. Fence Stile is in Excelsior Springs, 40 minutes north of downtown Kansas City.
