Echo Bluff State Park is one of those places you must visit to truly appreciate.

The newest addition to Missouri’s robust State Parks system, Echo Bluff is situated along Highway 19 in northern Shannon County, between Salem and Eminence.

The natural beauty and modern features will appeal to both hearty outdoors enthusiasts and to those whose idea of “roughing it” means sharing Wi-Fi with others.

Want to know more? Here are eight awesome facts about Echo Bluff:

• It’s kid friendly and younger ones will be thrilled by the expansive playground and the ability to splash and play in Sinking Creek and at the man-made sprayground.

• The campground has 12 sites for tent camping (including shaded sites) and 62 sites that cater to those with RVs and pull-behinds. The tent sites are very secluded and promise a unique experience. Electric and water hookups are available, as are shower houses with individual stalls. The Timbuktu Campground has Wi-Fi access!

• Beautiful views from outdoor pavilions (which can be rented) are ideal for get-togethers and special events, including weddings.

• About 1.5 miles of Sinking Creek run through the park, offering great opportunities for floating and canoe trips (and the water is warmer than the nearby Current River!).

• Several miles of paved and unpaved trails are ideal for walking, hiking and mountain biking.

• The main lodge has 20 well-appointed guestrooms, including suites ideal for families and smaller groups.On-site cabins, including four-bedroom options, are perfect for group outings and offer fantastic views of Sinking Creek and the formation known as Echo Bluff.

• Echo Bluff serves as a hub for outdoor activities in the area, with trails leading to nearby Current River State Park (which is just up the road on Highway 19). Those trails later will connect with National Park land and the Ozark Trail. Echo Bluff’s position also means visitors have quick access to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways and Montauk State Park.

• The wild horses of Shannon County have been regularly spotted in the park and it’s likely they’ll continue to return.
