How one candy creation led to a marriage proposal.
Author: Missouri Tourism
When St. Louis-based Chef Mary Boehne was working to create a unique treat for guests at the city’s Four Seasons Hotel, she turned to her boyfriend for counsel.

After (in her mind) perfecting the creation – a chocolate candy bar – she asked her boyfriend to taste test.

A week later, he proposed.

“I reeled him in with the candy bar,” Boehne says. “Now, I have to watch out who I give it to!”

If others react to the candy bar with the same gusto, Boehne is going to have a lot of proposals: The B. Mary Bar is a featured special amenity for guests at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown St. Louis and a dessert option at Cielo, the hotel’s on-site restaurant.
Check out this YouTube video for a backstage look at creating the B. Mary Bar.

Although Boehne recently became the corporate chef at Strange Donuts, another staple of the St. Louis sweet-treat scene, the B. Mary Bar is a mainstay at Four Seasons.

“People are always looking for a unique experience,” says Tim Powers, the Four Seasons director of marketing and sales. “But, to literally have a chocolate candy bar waiting for you upon arrival … or for dessert after you’ve had dinner at Cielo – it’s just an amazing way to start or finish an experience.”

While the B. Mary Bar is a unique creation, it’s not the only way to satisfy your sweet tooth during a Missouri getaway.  Find more delights waiting …
