You are invited to historic Roaring River State Park on Sept. 17 for the fourth annual Veterans Free Fishing Day. Any individual with a veteran’s status will be able to fish inside the park for free all day. Pick up your free tag at the park store the day of the event. Free hats will be given to veterans with their tag while supplies last.
Please come and join us on this day and catch your limit of four fish. Then, take your catch of the day to the park’s new state-of-the-art cleaning and fillet station at the end of Campground 3. In addition to premier trout fishing, visitors to Roaring River can enjoy miles of hiking trails, lodging, camping and on-site dining facilities, and can see the deepest cave spring in the United States, with a current depth of 472 feet.
The event will be held rain, snow or shine, assuming conditions are deemed safe. Fishing hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. in September.
This is a joint event held with Missouri Department of Conservation. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the park office (417-847-2539), MDC hatchery (417-847-2430) or park store (417-847-4971).
