Twin Pines Conservation Education Center is offering the following programs for August 2019:
Pine Needlers----Thursday 8/8/2019----10:30 a.m.-Noon and 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Next up for the Pine Needlers is the eleventh block of your "prairie" themed quilt featuring the badger. Preferring to live in dry, open fields this animal is a great "housekeeper" and keeps its burrow exceptionally clean. So, join us and learn more about this little-known prairie native. This program is designed for ages 16 and up. Under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Class limit of 15.
Wildthings-----Saturday 8/17/2019-----9 a.m.-Noon
Missouri's original settlers were very independent and self-sufficient. If they needed an item for their home they usually found a way to make it using what was available in nature. Kitchen items were no exception. With this in mind, join the Twin Pines staff and volunteers and learn how to make a spoon using a Missouri hardwood. This program is designed for ages 16 and up. Under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Class size limit of 25.
The above programs require reservations. To make a reservation, call 888-283-0364 or register online at www.mdc.mo.gov/twinpines. Age requirements and class size limits are listed above.
Family Fishing Day-----Saturday 8/24/2019-----10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Do you wish you could get away and enjoy a little time as a family? Join the Twin Pines staff as we host our annual Family Fishing Day. Enjoy grilled hot dogs and lemonade. Compete to see who can catch the most or the biggest fish. Let the kids try their hand at making a fish print tee shirt or other craft. Try your luck at our free prize drawing. Or you can just relax in the shade of one of Missouri's pines. This program is designed for all ages. For this event only, no Missouri fishing license or reservation is required.
