Wildflowers: English Paper Piecing

Registration period: April 11 – May 11

Date: Thursday, May 11, 2023, 10 a.m.-noon

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Enjoy learning about Missouri Wildflowers while applying their beauty to English Paper Piecing. All supplies provided to make a mug rug, potholder, or simply use the floral hexagons to decorate another fabric project. The possibilities are vast.

Nature Art: Watercolor Painting Pollinators

Registration period: April 18 – May 18

Date: Thursday, May 18, 2023, 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Participants will tour the native wildflower gardens at Twin Pines and learn about the importance of milkweed in the life cycle of Monarch butterflies. Then they will use watercolors to paint their inspiration.

Nature Art: Pine Needlers (VIRTUAL)

Registration period: April 27 – May 18

Date: Thursday, May 18, 2023, 4 p.m.-5 p.m.

Location: Online only

Learn embroidery techniques while also exploring Missouri’s “Things with Wings” by stitching quilt blocks based on that theme.

Nature Art: Pine Needlers

Registration period:  April 27 -May 18

Date: Thursday, May 18, 2023, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

This class is a 12-month program that will meet once a month all year long. You will learn simple, but beautiful embroidery techniques as we explore some of the most stunning and unique Winged Things found in the beautiful landscapes of Missouri.

By signing up, you are committing to attend all twelve of the monthly sessions so that you will be able to complete all 15 blocks for an entire quilt.

Kayaking: Beginner Kayaking – Twin Pines

Registration period: March 7 – May 26

Date: Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Kayaking is a great way to get outdoors and connect with nature. Join us as we learn about the equipment and techniques needed to kayak safely in Missouri before experiencing being on the water yourself. All kayaking equipment will be provided. Bring closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and dress for the weather. Registration required for each paddler. Ages 12+

The following programs were added for the month of May 2023.

Insects: Butterfly Rock Mosaics

Registration period: May 8 – May 25

Date: Thursday, May 25, 2023, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Spring has arrived and so have the flowers. Pollinators, such as butterflies, are hard at work assisting with cross-pollination. Join us as we learn about butterflies’ important role in this process and create your own rock mosaic butterfly.

Trees: Make Your Own Walking Stick

Registration period: May 8 – May 31

Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Do you like to hike? If so, join us as we learn about the different trees that make good walking sticks. Participants will debark their own branches and personalize them for their future hikes in the Ozarks.

*Please note that there will be a second session starting at 1 p.m. and running until 2:30 p.m. also on May 31, 2023.
