Discover Nature – Fishing Lessons 1 & 2:

Registration period: April 8 – June 8

Date: Thursday, June 8, 2023, 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Lesson 1:  Participants will learn how to properly and safely cast a spin cast fishing rod, parts of a fishing rod, how to fasten basic fishing tackle and how to properly handle and release a fish.

Lesson 2:  Participants will learn to tie an improved clinch knot and how to properly secure bait on hooks.

Additional Information:

Participants are limited to anglers ages 7 and older. We encourage the entire family to participate. Fishing equipment, instructors/coaches and bait/lures will be provided. Adults who do not wish to fish must accompany their child(ren) at all times.  Participants do NOT need a fishing permit to fish during this program. Discover Nature – Fishing Lesson 3 & 4:

Registration period: April 8 – June 10

Date: Saturday, June 10, 2023, 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

***You must take Discover Nature – Fishing Lesson 1 and 2 before you can take this class.

Lesson 3:  Participants will learn the different components of fish anatomy and their functions.  In addition, participants will learn about various types of fish habitat and aquatic food webs.

Lesson 4:  Teaches young anglers and families how to properly select a fishing lure based on the desired fish species, weather and water conditions.  In addition, participants will learn how to identify and understand fishing regulations.

Nature Art: Pine Needlers (VIRTUAL)

Registration period: May 20 – June 22

Date: Thursday, June 22, 2023, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

Learn embroidery techniques while also exploring “Trees of Missouri” by stitching quilt blocks based on that theme.

 

Nature Art: Pine Needlers

Registration period: May 20 – June 22

Date: Thursday, June 22, 2023, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

This class is a 12-month program (June 2023-May 2024) that meets each month. You will learn simple, but beautiful embroidery techniques as we explore some of the most stunning and unique trees native to Missouri.  By signing up, you are committing to attend all twelve of the monthly sessions so that you will be able to complete all 15 blocks for an entire quilt.
