Pro Musica is pleased to present international sensations Amy Porter (flute), João Luiz (guitar), and Juan-Miguel Hernandez (viola), together known as Trio Virado, on Thursday, February 21, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 812 S Pearl Avenue, in Joplin.
Trio Virado is a unique assemblage of veteran performers that brings excitement to live concerts and is equally impressive in educational settings at schools and universities. The Trio is taking the role of instrumental chamber music to new heights with repertoire that breaks boundaries between cultures and genres: from 21st-century premieres to Latin tangos to works from the classical canon arranged by João Luiz and others.
Each of the Trio Virado musicians has appeared in major classical music venues throughout the world. Their long-awaited debut album, "Mangabeira," was released in October 2015 and includes premieres by Paquito D'Rivera, João Luiz, Frederic Hand, and Sergio Assad.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge with donations appreciated. Note: A special ticketed House Concert will be held on February 22 at a private Joplin residence. Contact the Pro Musica office, 417-625-1822, for more information.
