Are you an avid photographer looking for a new and unique photographic canvas? Then look no further than Onondaga Cave State Park. Join a member of the Onondaga Friends Association with a passion for photography as she leads you through two great caves for hours of photographic possibilities. This tour caters to the photographer and videographer; you may bring your equipment and tripods on this photographic adventure. Each tour lasts approximately three hours with a one-hour lunch break in between.
You can opt for one cave or the other, or you can plan on doing both. The fee structure for the tours is $15 for the Onondaga Photo tour, $10 for the Cathedral Photo Tour and $20 to go on both tours. The Cathedral tour is from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Onondaga tour is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. No equipment will be provided by the park, so please bring your own. Conditions in the cave include limited lighting, concrete walkways and metal handrails, cool temperature (57 degrees F), and high humidity (nearing 100%). Please dress appropriately, with warm clothes and no heels or flip-flops. You can make reservations and pay in advance by visiting the Friends website at www.onondagafriends.org.
Come spend a day taking shots of this unique environment. Then, come back again to hone your skills. These tours will be held once every month from May through October.
