Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park and the St. Louis Astronomical Society invite the public to view the Perseid meteor shower. The nearly full moon will interfere with seeing fainter meteors, but brighter ones should still be visible. Members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society will provide telescopic views of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn if skies permit.
We will meet in front of the Babler monument, located up the hill from the park entrance, and view the meteors in the monument field. All visitors should bring lawn chairs and blankets, insect repellent, and red light flashlights for maintaining dark adaptation. We also encourage participants to bring food and drink and to dress for temperature drops.
