Combining three of the Missouri River Valley’s top outdoor activities — cycling, camping and canoeing — the MO70 is an all-inclusive adventure that will allow participants to explore the iconic Katy Trail and Missouri River, with an overnight stay in Hermann, Mo., during the town’s annual Oktoberfest celebration.
Participants will start on Saturday, October 8, in Washington, Mo., and pedal their bikes approximately 35 miles on the crushed limestone Katy Trail, the longest rail-trail in the country, with guides leading the way. The mostly flat ride will stop for lunch midway in Treloar, Mo., before proceeding to the City Park Campground in Hermann.
Upon arrival at the Hermann, participants will set up their tents, which will have been transported for them from Washington, and then enjoy a rustic meal cooked over the open fire, washed down with plenty of cold beverages. Afterward, participants can turn in early or head to Oktoberfest and keep the party rolling.
On Sunday, October 9, after the provided breakfast, everyone will break camp and head to the Hermann riverfront, where they’ll hop in canoes provided by Big Muddy Adventures and begin their guided return trip downstream. The fleet will again stop midway for lunch, this time in New Haven, Mo., before continuing to Washington and celebrating with a few more cold beverages once everyone is safely ashore.
