Katy Trail State Park

Ver Foto Localización

Katy Trail State Park is the longest rails-to-trails conversion in the U.S. This flat 240-mile trail runs from Clinton in the west to Machens in the east, stretching from Henry County to St. Charles County. The entire trail is open for hiking, running, walking and bicycling. Horseback riding is permitted for 34.7 miles between Clinton and the Sedalia Fairgrounds and for another 15.3 miles between Tebbetts and Portland.

Many wineries, restaurants, bed-and-breakfasts, motels, campgrounds and stores are located the length of the trail. Most of the eastern section follows the Missouri River; after leaving the river, the trail meanders through idyllic farmland and small towns. Depending on the season, trail users may see wildlife such as deer, snakes, turtles, turkey vultures and indigo buntings.

Motorized vehicles and equipment are prohibited. Electrically assisted pedal-powered bicycles and tricycles (maximum speed of 20 mph), as well as electrically powered mobility devices for persons with disabilities, such as motorized wheelchairs and scooters, are allowed. No hunting or firearms allowed.
