Founded in 1926 at the birthplace of Route 66, the Historic Gillioz Theatre is a 1015 seat venue featuring Spanish Moroccan design elements throughout.

Opening as a vaudeville and silent film theater, the Gillioz transitioned to film with the advent of “talkies”, or films with sound before closing in 1980. Restoration began a few years later and culminated with a reopening in 2006, 80 years to the day from the original opening date.

Since 2006 the Gillioz has become the most awarded venue in the region and features the best in live comedy and music. It is home to the Ozarks Lyric Opera as well as hosting a variety of special events for the community.

The Historic Gillioz is a 501c-3 non-profit with a mission to preserve the past, celebrate community and make memories as it has for generations of attendees. It’s a must-see for Route 66 travelers and visitors to Springfield and the Ozarks.
