In the 1940s-1950s, every town in the USA had a small poultry hatchery located in town; today there are only about 12 of these chicken hatcheries that produce poultry chicks for the backyard user or small farm buyer. Cackle Hatchery is one of those 12 remaining hobby hatcheries and it’s located right here in Lebanon, Missouri.
Cackle Hatchery provides free limited tours, store, incubation viewing, resources and live baby chicks to see or purchase. Best times for visit are March to September.
Cackle Hatchery sponsors a fall festival in October with many education opportunities along with fun and games.
