When it comes to putting the "festive" in festival, you'll find the 87th Annual Plaza Art Fair, Sept. 21-23, hard to beat.
Each fall, Kansas City welcomes and celebrates autumn by turning the Plaza into a delight for the senses that draws 250,000 visitors over the course of the weekend. Everywhere you look, discover something graceful or imaginative or colorful – or all of that and more.
Three days is hardly enough to take in the nine city blocks featuring 240 artists showcasing art of every media and description from fiber to photography and jewelry to sculpture. Visit with the artists, learn about their creative process and shop to your heart's content.
For both scent and taste, explore the food and beverage offerings. As would be expected, the Plaza Art Fair moves beyond traditional festival fare like popcorn and funnel cakes by teasing your taste buds with everything from burnt ends to Asian pig wings, hotdogs to sushi, hummus to walking tacos.
And it's all set to music ... three stages featuring more than 50 local musicians throughout the fair.
The only possible thing it might be missing is you ... so make this your year. Turn yourself loose to enjoy every minute of art, food, music and fun at the Plaza Art Fair... one of Kansas City's best favorite traditions.
