Route 63 cuts a swath through the heart of Missouri, linking the farm fields of the north to the Ozark Mountains in the south, crossing the mighty Missouri River in between.

Thomas Hill Lake and Conservation Area
Located 10 miles north of Huntsville, Thomas Hill Lake and Conservation Area offers fishing, water skiing, and boating. This 4,950-acre, man-made lake was created to provide cooling water for the turbines of Thomas Hill Power Plant. The “warm-water” arm of the lake supplies year-round fishing and larger-than-normal catches.
5.25 miles west of Macon on Route 36, then 10 miles south on Route C to College Mound, and 2.4 miles west on Route T. 660-785-2420.

Finger Lakes State Park
This reclaimed strip mine area, five miles north of Columbia, is one of two state parks where off-road motorcycling and ATV riding are allowed. Trails and a motocross tracks crisscross the park. There are seven water-filled strip pits for swimming, canoeing and fishing. Camping and picnicking are available.

Rock Bridge Memorial State Park
Fascinating geologic formations are the principal features of this 2,272-acre day-use park three miles south of Columbia. Visit Devil’s Icebox Cave, the seventh longest in Missouri. There are trails for hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers, when weather conditions allow.
